Help. I'm terrified. This guy came to fix the heater in my house & said that there's carbon monoxide ...?

coming from the fireplace.. It's going through the chimney, but there's a draft of carbon monoxide that's invading my house. My mom isn't home and I'm with younger siblings and freaked out. Is there someone to call and is there anything to do?
