How can I use burgundy in a summer wedding, but not get too dark or wintery?

My FH would like to use burgundy in our wedding. However, we are getting married late July or early August. What are some good color combinations? ..maybe just use burgundy as accent color? Any links, suggestions, photos are appreciated. I should say that I am not a fan of red/black weddings or balloons at weddings. Colors I've looked at for flowers are cream, sage, burgundy and champagne...or and orangey color with burgundy or pinks with burgundy. Just want some ideas so that it doesn't turn into a "winter wedding" =) Thanks!
